Welcome to South AFrica to help with this pandemic. I have been working with street children for 25 years. We are feeding +- 400 a day. We send our boys to school
Our concentration is more on education and skills training the aids programme is mostly handled by the boys as peer counsellors. This programme was introduced as an extra because so many of our outreach and our boys are vulnerable to this pandemic.

Our mission is to see our shelter boys as agents of change. The boys conduct workshops and seminars. Peer Counsellors who create awareness and change in this pandemic, educating the youth about potential dangers of unprotected sex

An exciting community event was organised by Twilight Children peer counsellors to contribute to the awareness rising on the prevention of HIV infection.
HIV/Aids
The boys roped in other shelters like New Life shelter and Usindiso. Twilight Children peer counsellors led the programme
Twilight children performed a drama about HIV/AIDS which clearly showed how naïve young person’s get infected in the big towns and are taken back home when they are sick. The burden of care falls back on the poor rural communities.
Twilight Children boys went out into the community to distribute condoms while talking to the people about HIV/AIDS. The last one was held on the 17th July 2009. You would be amazed at how many children and adults went to be tested voluntary
So far this programme is repeated twice a year would lke to do more Road shows during 2010. We would welcome a visit by you we are very proud of our achievements

Dear profs Jan and Jimmie

This is just a thanks for the tickets to the HIV/Aids gala concert. We enjoyed it so much!! And since it was the first time in about 2 years that my husband and I went out alone without our 4year old, it was extra special for us!!! The quality and diversity of the acts was excellent and beautifully co-ordinated. Thanks again. Be assured of my ongoing commitment to your activities in the centre. Please ask if I could be of any assistance through my role at SU.

Prof Jimmie - also congratulations on your new appointment!! You deserve it!

Best of luck to both of you for the last bit of 2009! Hope you will be able to take a nice break!!

Kind regards

The key to our success
rests in people like you
who embody the spirit of greatness
by saying, "Yes I can, and so can you!"
Thanks for your inspiring dedication
and tremendous example to the world.

When the show was over
we say good bye with sad yet grateful hearts.
We want to thank you for your dedication,
and being there from the very start.
Words cannot convey our gratitude
for your tremendous contribution.

With gratitude in our hearts
we wanted to thank you with this card
as our personal round of applause.
The credit for your good deeds
firmly rests with your dedicated members of the Africa centre for HIV/AIDS.
Thank you!

Thank you so much
for all of your hard work
and to bear witness to your passion
was an unexpected perk.
We never could have asked
for a greater show.
Words cannot express
how grateful we are to have seen all these wonderful entertainers in action.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to attend these gala concerts.
Thank you.

Hallo!

It was only a fantastic pleasure! I wanted to say thank you after the show, but you were no where to be found... Thank you again for another wonderful oppertunity to be part of such a special product. Of course it is incredible to be able to perform with all the (famous) artists and orchestra and the lights and.... But then to be part of such a special and meaningful event and to know that I can do a little bit through the gift that God gave me... It's an amazing feeling. Thank you for the platform you gave me to do that!

Anyway, before I realy start crying... I hope that you will have a fabulous and blessed Christmas and hopefully some rest time as well! Please send my regards to Jan as well.

Love always,Janelle
