Sally & Tom

DNA tests now prove that Thomas Jefferson and his slave Sally Hemmings had five children. Their story comes to the stage in this classic Castillo musical by Fred Newman and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Annie Roboff. Sally and Tom (The American Way) premiered on the New York Castillo stage in December 1995, directed by Fred Newman and Gabrielle Kurlander, and was also produced in January 1999, directed by Gabrielle Kurlander. At the opening of the 1999 production, Jimmie Earl Perry, a seasoned stage performer portrayed Sally Hemmings oldest son Madison. As narrator and historian within the production, Mr. Perry made this story shine with his charm, smooth dance moves and most of all his glorious voice. Also at this premier two descendents from Sally and Tom's controversial union were reunited.

"...Sally and Tom is a diamond in the off-off-Broadway rough. Roboff's music sometimes soars with lyrical beauty." -- Ward Moorehouse III, Christian Science Monitor, January 1999

Starlight Express

Jimmie starred in this production of Starlight Express from 1999 to 2002 as “Poppa”. The old Damphlok (Steam Engine) that gave wise advice to the youngest engine in the yard, Rusty. To believe in himself, that he could be just as fast, clever and popular as all the other engines. Jimmie performed the title song “Starlight Express” to thousands of eager theatregoers in Germany. He states “this is the most challenging and exciting show he has every skated in”!!!

Written by and for Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ children in 1986, Starlight Express is pure fun and the world's only musical performed entirely on roller skates. Inspired by the pleasure to be found in the Reverend Awdry's children's stories, the show tells how various trains - steam, electric and diesel - compete to couple up with carriages and see who is the best, and who will reach "The Light at the End of the Tunnel".

Starlight Express has been running in Bochum for over fourteen years and is still the world's most successful musical. Nine million people have been fascinated by the show with all its 24 players on rollerskates.
